After receiving his PhD in biochemistry from New York University in 1967, Dr. Aubrey Hampton borrowed USD250 to start Aubrey® Organics, while working for Fabergé, a perfume and cosmetics manufacturer.
When Aubrey first mixed ground ginger, peppermint and eucalyptus leaf into a base of coconut oil in 1967, he never would have imagined that the batch of bath liquid he created to help combat the harsh New York City winters would change the personal care industry forever.
In the same year, Aubrey® Organics kicked into full gear with USD35,000 he earned in Fabergé’s profit-sharing programme. In Aubrey’s own words, “That was a big deal, financing my own company without investors or a bank. I knew if I brought in investors they wouldn’t care about the animals or chemicals, and I wanted my company to represent those things. It didn’t mean all that much in 1967, but it meant a lot to me.”
Aubrey dedicated the rest of his life in making better products designed to nurture people and work in harmony with nature. The company was also the first to use ingredients like milk protein, jojoba oil, matcha green tea and other traditional natural ingredients. Today, Aubrey® Organics has grown to become a leader in natural hair, skin and body care with more than 200 products with the finest herbals and plant extracts in their most natural form, and with no synthetic additives or petrochemicals.
